NIBC were awarded the arranging mandate for the finance of the facilities constructed by Shanks Waste Solutions Limited as part of the Dumfries & Galloway waste contract. The principal components of the scheme included 6 landfill sites, 2 transfer stations and six other civic amenity sites with circa 80 bring centres to be serviced for the duration of the contract.

Shanks’ solution comprised of a residual waste treatment and disposal scheme using Ecodeco Mechanical Biological Treatment technology. The facility, which included a 65,000 tonnes per annum MBT plant and a 18,000 tonnes per annum mixed waste composting plant, became operational in Early 2007.

As Lender's Technical Advisor Fichtner provided technical support and due diligence for proposed MBT, Bio-Drying / RDF and composting schemes. Fichtner monitored construction and continue to provide operational monitoring and support.
