Employer's Representative and CDMC to Helius Energy for the award winning CoRDe renewable energy project in Scotland
Fichtner are Employers Representative and CDM Coordinator to Helius CoRDe for the development and construction, of the renewable energy scheme which will reduce the carbon footprint of the whisky industry on Speyside. The contract reached financial close in 2011 and is under construction on an EPCM basis. Our services include contract support to financial close, construction management, interface management and supervision of the developments in Rothes.

The £50 million project will use a mixture of woodchip and whisky distillery by-products to fuel a 7.2 MWe biomass CHP plant which will also supply steam to an on-site evaporator plant that will turn the liquid co-product of whisky production, known as Pot Ale, into a concentrated organic fertiliser and an animal feed for use by local farmers.

The project won 'Best Environmental Initiative' at the Scottish Green Energy Awards in December 2008 and will save more than 20,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year when compared to CoRD's current energy use.
