Fichtner has recently completed the role of Lender’s Technical Advisor on Europe’s largest PV projects - Rovigo and Montalto in Italy.
The Rovigo project is a 72 MW photovoltaic solar power plant, located in North-eastern Italy, near the town of Rovigo. Construction of the plant was started in March 2010 and was completed in November 2010. When completed, it was the largest single-operating PV plant in Europe.
The Montalto di Castro photovoltaic power station is a photovoltaic power station at Montalto di Castro in Viterbo, Italy. The project was developed by the independent developer SunRay that was later acquired by SunPower. The largest PV project in Italy, and among the largest PV projects worldwide.
The Montalto di Castro solar park, developed by SunPower, is located in the Lazio region of Italy near Rome, where the 20 MWe first phase was connected to the grid in November of 2009. The 8 MW second phase was commissioned in 2010, and the third and fourth phases, totalling 44 MW, were completed in December 2010.
