Wide ranging industrial, process and environmental engineering services to Aylesford Newsprint
Fichtner has provided a wide range of consultancy services to Aylesford Newsprint, including a study reviewing options for upgrading site steam and electricity generation capacity to meet the requirements of a proposed additional paper mill. Gas turbine, condensing and back pressure steam turbine, sludge combustor and package boilers were all considered.
Our team has undertaken a thermal cycle analysis of site utilities infrastructure including gas and steam turbines, sludge fired boilers and taking into account proposed new production facilities and proposed new sludge combustor. Use of Fichtner's KPRO in-house thermal cycle simulation and optimisation package.
Assessment of combustion, throughput and attrition problems on de-inking Fluidised bed sludge combustor and associated heat recovery and flue gas treatment plant. Preparation of specifications for new sludge combustor, issue of tender invitations and support for tender assessment. Review options for incorporation of additional steam turbine into existing utilities infrastructure using KPRO. Concept development for complete new stand-by boilers including boilers, controls and control interfaces, electrical installations, civil and structural and new ductwork and chimney. Specifications and tender invitations for boiler supply. Specifications and tender invitations for associated construction works as one turnkey contract.
